Introduction

The Diploma in Hotel Management (DHM) program is designed to equip practitioners in the hospitality industry with relevant knowledge, attitude, and job skills that will help them to enhance productivity in their present jobs.

The program is unique as student can undertake the course from their home country. Students must complete a total of 12 modules before they are awarded the Diploma in Hotel Management from the Malaysian Association of Hotels Training and Education Center (MAHTEC) Malaysia.

Upon completion of this course the student will need to complete the Certified Hospitality Supervisory program in Malaysia for a period of 5 days and subsequently will be placed in a Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) member hotel to do their internship for a minimum of 6 months to 9 months.

Upon completion of the internship program, students can apply for a full time placement with the hotels in Malaysia, failing which they will then have to return to their home country.

Upon satisfactory completion of the DHM program, students can apply to continue to do the Degree in Applied Bachelor of Hospitality (Management) program from the University of Ballarat, Australia.

Program Pathway


Program Details

The students enrolled in the DHM program will go through 12 modules of classroom sessions where each module is conducted over a 4 day period with a minimum of 6 hours session per day. A total of 24 contact hours are required before students can sit for the exam. Students are also required to complete assignments at the end of each session for every module. There will only be a minimum of 1 module to a maximum of 2 modules per month.

Student will receive a certificate of completion after each module and once they complete all 12 modules they will receive the Diploma in Hotel Management awarded by MAHTEC.

Upon completing the 12 modules of the diploma, students will be given an option to travel to Malaysia to complete the CHS programme where they are required to complete a 5 days training program with MAHTEC, followed by a minimum of 6 months internship in MAH member Hotels. Students will not be required to incur any additional cost for the CHS program. However, the students has to bear the cost of the flight ticket to Malaysia and return to home country.

Student who successfully complete the 5 day training program will be given a Certificate of Attendance by MAHTEC. The students who have successfully completed the examination will also beawarded the Certified Hospitality Certificate by MAHTEC.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  1. SSC or HSC or O levels or A Levels Equivalent with minimum 3 years working experience in Hotel Management Industry.
  2. Any other qualification will be evaluated on case to case basis provided they have the minimum 3 years working experience in the Hotel Management Industry.
  3. 3 years working experience need not be in one hotel only. Can be a compilation of work experience.
